How to Overcome Anxiety and Insomnia?

Insomnia and anxiety are tightly related conditions as one of them often leads to another. If you are anxious, you might find it difficult to fall asleep. As well as that, if you are insomniac, you will surely get anxious and nervous.

If you are prone to, at least, one of these conditions, then read this article and find out how to cope with insomnia.

Anxiety

1) Running

Running is really useful as it keeps you fit, strong, and healthy. However, prefer running in the morning or in the first half of the day. If you are running merely in the evenings, then it’s probably one of the reasons why you have difficulties sleeping.

2) Do not Eat a Square Meal in the Evening

Try to have square lunch in the afternoon, but try not to eat too much in the evening. It is also one of the best tips how to cure insomnia.

3) Cut Down on the Daily Intake of Caffeine

If you are a fan of coffee or green tea, I must say that it’s not a good idea to drink them in the evening. If you badly want a hot drink before going to bed, then try some chamomile tea or other kinds of caffeine-free tea.

4) Follow Healthy Sleep Tips

Still wondering how to cure insomnia? – Sleep well! Following healthy sleep tips is part and parcel of good well-being. Stick to a regular sleeping schedule. Get up and go to bed at approximately the same time.

5) Turn off the Lights

When talking about turning off the lights, I mean not only electricity, but also your phone, tablet, and other distractors.

6) Start Keeping a Journal

If you have daily stress at work whatsoever, try writing down your thoughts in the journal. In such a way, you will leave them on paper, and they won’t disturb you during bedtime.

7) Do Some Mental Exercising

If you have thought about counting sheep, you are wrong. Those little creatures will make you even more anxious and angry. Instead, try to practice some meditation, thinking about nothing, and freeing all thoughts from your mind. Or, on the contrary, try visualization, but visualize something pleasant for you, e.g. some nice summer holidays in the Maldives.

8) Read a Book Before Sleeping

Read some nice book (but do not read any horrors) before going to bed. Choose the book that will relax you and distract your thoughts from the everyday routine.

9) Control Temperature in the Room

Adjust the temperature in the room so that it is neither too cold nor too hot.

All in all, these are some of the tips on how to cope with stress and insomnia. Follow healthy sleep tips, and you will surely have no troubles with your sleep.
